The Sustainable Washington Township Creative Team is pleased to announce the Spring 2024 exhibit at our outdoor gallery in Washington Lake Park, Give Peace a Chance. We are now accepting submissions from local and regional amateur and professional artists. Submitted artwork will be reviewed and selected for exhibit by a committee of artists and art advocates from the Washington Township community.
The Gallery in the Park is an outdoor installation located at the Amphitheater in Washington Lake Park and is a central venue in our Painting the Town Project. The exhibit will open in May 2024, and will remain in place through July, to be viewed by visitors to the largest municipal park in New Jersey. The Park is the site of community festivals, concerts, entertainment and recreation events, and is frequented by thousands of individuals seeking leisure enjoyment outdoors. Washington Lake Park is located at 626 Hurffville-Cross Keys Road, Sewell, NJ.
The theme for the exhibit is Give Peace a Chance. These are troubled days, beset by conflict and war, and by division and discord. The prospect of harmony and reconciliation may seem remote. We know that the arts can uniquely clarify vision and sentiment, enlighten perspective, convey core values and create profound connections that ordinary communications may not. We invite artists 18 years of age and older to submit images that depict some interpretation of the theme of peace.
Selected images will be printed on weather-proof panels and hung along a paved walkway in the Amphitheater, visible to participants in Park events as well as casual strollers.* You may wish to visit our Facebook page here (https://facebook.com/WTPaintstheTown) to see photos from a previous exhibit.
Images created in two-dimensional media are acceptable, including painting, drawing and photography. All images should be submitted as high-resolution digital files. File resolution must be sufficient to provide clear, undistorted images when they are enlarged and printed for display. Preference is for files in TIF (TIFF) format, having a density of 240 dpi, and with color space sRGB, or in JPG format, with sRGB color space and a file size of at least 5 MB.
